Article shared from http://multisitesolutions.com/blog/internet-campus-tips

First came sermons on tape cassettes which evolved to CD’s which are now available on DVD’s. Then came podcast sermons and video-streaming of messages online. Today we can go to church virtually through internet campuses.

The internet campus is a natural development of a reproducing church strategy mindset. Still in its infancy, the internet campus developed as an expression of the multisite model but will outgrow the multisite movement because any outreaching church that is tech savvy can do it.

Brian Vasil is the Internet Campus Pastor at Potential Church (formerly Flamingo Road Church) in Cooper City, Florida which has one of the most developed internet campus ministries in the nation that includes online services for children and youth as well as adults. Brian launched Potential Church Internet Campus in 2007.
Today over 3,000 people participate every week with over 250 recorded professions of faith and sixty baptisms. How do you baptize over the internet? Click here to watch!
I asked him to share some tips for those considering an internet campus. Here is what he wrote:

Be sure to have your senior pastor’s full support before starting an internet campus! Calling it an experiment and throwing limited resources as it will frustrate all involved.

Decide if an online community is a REAL community? If you’re not sure, stick to just streaming your services. If your church doesn’t see these online relationships as legitimate, your campus will struggle being recognized internally as a “real” campus.

Determine the goal and priorities of your internet campus. Is it outreach? Member care? Church marketing?

Have a plan. Is your internet campus going to be a campus or a stream? Provide life development? Allow online ministry?

Go to school on other churches doing ministry online. Talk to them with an open mind.

Hire a dedicated Internet Campus Pastor to facilitate spiritual development and provide care for those online.

Decide ahead of time how your internet campus will handle the sacraments (communion/baptism). It will come up, trust me.

Make an internet campus a part of your intentional online strategy. Include Twitter, Facebook, etc. to create digital community.

Fund it adequately. It will cost less than a physical building start, but more than you think. It requires some staff, equipment, streaming, fees, etc. There are many free or inexpensive tools to get your church on the digital neighborhood.

Be sensitive to world events, holidays and such. Most American internet campuses are too USA specific. If people are connecting from around the world we need to make sure they feel as included as possible.

About The Live Stream

About the Film

A fascinating story with extremely rare inside access into the controversial work of newsmaker Dr. Luis Moreno-Ocampo, Prosecutor follows the Chief Prosecutor through the first trials of the newly formed International Criminal Court in The Hague.

Currently making headlines for his work to capture and indict Libya’s Muammar el-Qaddafi and his son Seif al-Islam, as well as his initial investigation into Syria’s Bashar al-Assad, Dr. Moreno-Ocampo investigates and prosecutes some of the world’s worst criminals for some of the world’s worst crimes. A hero to genocide survivors, the Chief Prosecutor also has bitter enemies on both the Left and the Right.

Prosecutor offers a front-row seat to the historic events that may very well determine whether the International Criminal Court is a groundbreaking new weapon for global justice or just an idealistic dream.

It’s Bigger and Deeper than technology.

“There is more to this project than just technology, it stands for something. It shows a community united to rebuild and bring back the gold ‘ol days of yesterdays using the most advanced technologies offered today. You cannot just look at this project of say that’s cool, the people live it, breathe it and show it is much deeper than that. It’s contagious and we wanted to be a part of it, yes, we felt it too.” says 3tier CEO and Founder Perry Johnson.

3tier Strategy partners with Kiowa County Media Center and the city of Greensburg, KS to assist in delivering government and community events globally online via a vast web portal. Focusing in on information and quality, 3tier was proud when approached to assist with such a vast, but yet, community involved project.

3tier was chosen to be the backbone of all media content delivered online both live and on-demand and will work with Kiowa County build a web portal to reach not only the community, but the world as a whole.

** Excerpts from the Kiowa County Media Center Prospectus **

At 9:45 pm on Friday evening, May 4, 2007, Greensburg, KS, was obliterated by an EF5 tornado.

That is no exaggeration. The town’s footprint on the south‐central High Plains of Kansas is 1.5 miles wide; the tornado was 1.8 miles wide at its base. Ninety‐five percent of all of the homes and buildings were completely destroyed.

Three‐and‐a‐half years later, it is clearly evident that the citizens of Greensburg and Kiowa County are a resilient people. New homes are being occupied, the power grid reestablished, and the new water tower went up in April of 2008. The schools reopened in August of 2007, albeit in 12 portable classrooms and a giant metal building. The spectacular $48 million LEED Platinum K‐12 school campus opened in August of 2010.

A comprehensive, community redevelopment plan is in place, more than 800 homes are occupied, under construction or permitted, and more than 75 businesses have reopened and/or are in the process of rebuilding.
The new Dillons Food Store opened in February of 2009. The Sun Chips Business Incubator – built to LEED Platinum standards – is now open. The remodeled Kiowa County Courthouse has reopened; the new Greensburg City Hall – also built to LEED Platinum standards – is open; as is the new Kiowa County Memorial Hospital.

What has really captured national attention is the community’s commitment to “Rebuild Green.” Remarkably, all of the major public buildings and several large businesses are being built to LEED Platinum specifications. With a total of more than two dozen buildings being designed to LEED standards, Greensburg is becoming the “greenest” town in America.

The Media Center

The Kiowa County Media Center is a 5,200 sq. ft. facility that incorporates energy‐ efficient building design, technologies, and materials, opened in May, 2011. The Media Center will be located on the second floor of the new $6.1 million Kiowa County Commons building now under construction on Greensburg’s Main Street.

The Media Center will include a small HD television production studio, a small Internet radio studio, an Internet Web Portal, and a Media Laboratory providing video/audio/graphics workstations to support editing and production. The Media Center will maintain a Web portal that will include a community master calendar. It will provide production capability for Web, video, print, and audio origination, both in the Media Center and from remote locations. Live and on‐demand television and radio programming will be distributed on the Internet and in HD on Greensburg’s fiber‐to‐the‐home cable system.

The Kiowa County Media Center – Kiowa County’s 21st Century solution – is using digital media to:

inform and serve residents

teach new career skills

democratize city and county government

showcase innovative “green” rebirth

support community‐based journalism

provide a new Internet‐based model for replication!

The HDTV Production Trailer

The HDTV Production Trailer is a mobile, 22‐foot long High Definition digital television production facility powered by NewTek’s TCXD850 TriCaster switcher unit and their 3PLAY
three‐channel HD slow motion instant replay unit. The trailer is capable of producing live, four‐camera sports productions in full HD.

The HDTV Production Trailer features four Sony HXR‐NX5U AVCHD HD cameras with Sachtler/Vinten camera support systems. The air conditioned and heated trailer was constructed by Brown Specialty Vehicles, and features Middle Atlantic equipment racks filled with gear from Avitech, Kramer Electronics, Clark Wire & Cable, and CablesToGo. A ClearCom intercom coordinates work.

I get many people that ask me why I am always talking about Dok-It Online. It is very simple, I care. You see my brother and his family were victims of a home burglary years ago. While they had insurance, the task of going through the whole claim process, finding receipts, pictures, and all other related info they needed, turned out to be almost more horrifying and crushing than the burglary itself.

** Do not read part way through and tune out, read it all, If I took the time out of my Saturday to write this, then it is important for you to read. You are reading this because I shared it with friends. **

So my brother came up with the concept of Dok-It. It allows you to go through your home or business quickly and inventory your valuables. It is a matter of taking a few pictures, entering in, make, model, serial, date purchased, purchased from, value, quantity, and attaching photos to the website.

Now, this may seem like no big deal, but what makes life easier is in the event of a loss. You can simply log into Dok-It from anywhere in the world, select items that are lost or stolen, and then click a button, and your insurance agent and law enforcement officer if needed, will receive a complete email with all the information that they will need. This will include all pictures, copy of receipts, and detailed information about the item.

You see that is a process that in your worse time of need, you do not want to bother with. Just push a button and it is done for you. Before anyone asks, yes, Dok-It has worked with insurance companies nationwide to determine how and what information is needed.

The last few days have brought some tremendous storms to the South and Midwest regions of the U.S. I cannot help but look at those pictures of the devastation and think, “How could Dok-It make their life easier right now.” I mean look at the pictures, stuff is destroyed and thrown EVERYWHERE. You see alot of us think this does not apply to us, and that Dok-It just does not make sense. However here is a thought to keep in mind, it is not what you have lost that is the hardest, IT IS KNOWING WHAT YOU EVEN HAD TO START WITH.

Take a look at some of these pictures on FoxNews and ask yourself, if this was me, where would I start?

FoxNew.com - Article and Pictures

Then check out Dok-It Online – www.dok-itonline.com – * Really, it is only $39.95 for a full year of peace of mind, and if you cannot or do not want to go through and inventory your stuff, they have a service that can come do that for you, license, bonded, and insured and even here in KS.

If festivals were like movie theaters, this wouldn’t be such a good idea. But of course, festivals are about so much more than just the music! Which makes good live streaming an incredible enhancement, and a motivator for future attendees. In fact, I’d argue that the live stream is now an essential part of any successful festival – right up there with the bands and stages.

Take Coachella. This past weekend, the festival’s three-day stream on YouTube was a smash, and at-home onlookers were treated to a great experience. But what they didn’t get is that ‘experience of a lifetime’. Because for that, you’ve got to buy a ticket… you’ve got to pay $300(+) and go! Because nobody is going to trade a story about watching youtube.com/coachella from their PC – at least not a good one – and that’s the whole point.

But throughout the stream, users are encouraged to comment and spread the word on places like Facebook. It’s an association with Coachella cool from your couch, a next-best for those whose finances, geography, schedule, or the simple sellout prevented a trip. It lets hundreds of thousands of aspirationals in on the conversation – and that exponentially strengthens the festival brand.

That said, this is still an ‘early-stage’ space, and ripe for lots of innovation. Part of the reason is the live-streaming has been difficult to pull off until recently, though Coachella’s broadcast consistently worked. Beyond the basics, Coachella’s approach seemed smart. It was a three-stage, three-screen experience, complemented by a schedule for each and some really great camerawork. The audio – as hooked into a stereo system – was pretty good. And this even featured interviews in between, though as someone craning his neck in this year, I obviously wanted more – more on-the-ground camerawork, more archives, more options. But maybe that’s the whole point.

And the most important aspect? Coachella monetized this with a huge branding deal involving Wrigley’s 5 Gum, a tie-in that was impossible to miss. Which means, more money outside of the Indio Polo Grounds – a lot more.
